FINAL DECISIONS ON MAGAZINE CONTENT

Front Cover -

On my front cover i will have a main striking image that will be black and white, i have chosen to do this as it will look effective and apply to the current codes and conventions of a Rap/Hip-Hop music magazine. I will have a variety of different cover lines as well as a very large and visually pleasing masthead, the masthead will be large and will be white, this makes the masthead stand out however I think I am going to manipulate this text and add effects to the font. This will ale the front cover look more unique and also make it interesting for the consumer to look at, I am the going to add a barcode. This is a must as I have seen it all on every magazine cover that I have researched. The barcode will go into one of the four corners of my magazine front cover as this is where the barcode stereotypically goes. I will then add a splash also into one of the corners, and advertise a free CD that i am going to make, this will be an effective way of promotion and also mean that i will be able to make the front cover more busy, this is because i have seen this on multiple different music magazine covers and i think it makes the consumers more interested in the advert. I will use mostly dark colours as this is what my questionnaire has shown me, i need to do what my questionnaire is suggesting as these are in my target audience and they are who i need to impress. I will use a combination of dark and bright colours when choosing the colours for the subheadings, i am going to initially use a dark colour such as black as i think m background is going to be white, this is because through my research i can see that most rap/hip-hop magazines have a white background that shows back text. I will use a male as my actor, i am going to do this as most of the magazine covers i have seen that are in my genre are male actors. I will not be using a female model as that mean i will have to use the actor in a promiscuous outfit due to the fact that women are usually objectified in rap/hip-hop magazines.  The cover line stories i am going to have are the following ;

LOGIC- The rise to fame has made him change
DRAKE-Veiws from the 6
J.COLE- "2014 Forest Hills Drive was a classic"
BRYSON TILLER-TRAPSOUL
CHANCE THE RAPPER-EXCLUSIVE
VINCE STAPLES-THE MAKING OF A LEGEND

Contents Page -

On my contents page will be a very striking image of my actor on the left hand side of the page, the page will once again be black and white as this makes the house stye of the magazine consistent. I will have a main contents page masthead that will most likely have the words contents on it, as well as the magazines logo. I will then have an over line with the date the magazine is issued however this is too premature to tell and i will decide where this goes when constructing my magazine in Adobe InDesign. I will then ad the page number and a custom graphic that will also be in my house style, i need to have a consistent yet unique house style as this will make my magazine look professional and also meet the codes and conventions of a rap/hip-hop magazine. I will use smaller text on the right hand side of the page to ensure all of my points are in the contents page of my magazine, the colour will most likely be black and I will need to differentiate the words that will attract the customer by either making them bolder or making them unique in one way or another. The articles on my contents page will include:

-Logic has been touring around the world and had a special guest anted his show.
-Drake views from the 6 is being released and he talks to curve about the album
-J.Cole announces his annual dollar and a dream tour sponsored by puma for the fourth year running
-Bryson Tiller "Trapsoul"
-CURVE meet up with Tory LAnez for this weeks "Lanez segment"
-top ten young artists of the week, including G-Eazy
-Latest album reviews including Rhianna and Future
-YEEZY Season 3 release live in madison square garden
-Atlanta hold the annual v-fest that will include waka flocka flame
-MOBO awards review we talk to all the winners
-Win trips to coachella music festival with CURVE
-chance to win a one on one conversation with Stormzy

Double page spread

My double page spread will include a coloured image of my actor on the right of the page, it will be cut into two halves with one side being predominantly text and the other being the large image. The large image will have a white background and will also have the page number and the house style logo on the bottom near the image. This will be effective as it shows repitiion and consistency throughout my magazine, I will use a pull quote on the writing side of my magazine to apply with the codes and conventions of music magazine double page spreads. I want the quote to be quite inspirational as it will be one of the first places the consumer will look. I am them going to make my actors name the headline of the cover story, this way it is not to specific on his life and tho way the conversation i am going to be writing will be easier to write as it will be an open interview.
